Living while Black in America can be dangerous. Ray Johnson is finding out just how perilous. He's caught up in a New York Police Department cover up of the handling of his own hostage situation where police killed the wrong people as a defendant in the New York "Shooter Trial" on the national media stage. After living a life of denial in the midst of searing experiences with racism, Ray finds himself taken hostage by Joe D. who has finally gone crazy because of racism in his life. When he is falsely accused by his liberators to cover up their own criminal activities, and the all star multiracial defense team defends Joe D. using the socially unacceptable defense of insanity by reason of racism against the charge of murder, Ray faces the biggest decisions of his life, accept a plea or stand as a man and expose the corrupt NYPD.
